BEA – I want to go to there

Published by Chelsea Campbell under Uncategorized

And I am! W00T! I just put down ACTUAL MONEY on airline tickets and made hotel reservations. I’ll be in NYC May 24th – 28th. (It’s going to be just like in Down with Love, right? #sarcasm)
For those not in the know, BEA (Book Expo America) is a giant book convention [...]

Has it been a week already?

Gah, apparently it’s been a week since I posted. The days just slip by!
So what have I been doing the past week? What breaking news is there to report from Chelsea Land?
Er, not a whole lot. Mostly I’ve been writing. And freaking out and deleting scenes and then deciding [...]

ARC!!!!

Published by Chelsea Campbell under Uncategorized

Check this sucker out:

From Drop Box

That’s my book! It smells like trees–well, newly dead trees, which is a fresh smell for a book–and it has 352 pages. The beginning of each chapter has a black and white silhouette of the city skyline from the cover, and the scene breaks are done with Xs, [...]

Revisions – in which I break down the process and reveal the mysteries

Published by Chelsea Campbell under publishing

Okay, so, I have to confess that I used to be TERRIFIED of revisions. Just the thought of some editor with a revision quota they had to fill on my book pissed me right the hell off. You hear horror stories, or you make them up in your head, or you just *know* [...]

ARCs – what’s the big deal anyway?

Published by Chelsea Campbell under publishing

ARCs for those who might not know are Advanced Review Copies (or some variation, same meaning, same letters). Pronounced arc, like in math, or ark, as in the boat. I used to think it was spelled out, A.R.C., but my experience in hearing people in the industry talk about them says otherwise. [...]

Contest Winners!

Published by Chelsea Campbell under Uncategorized

Alright, as the pirates vs. ninjas vs Batman contest comes to a close, I have drawn three winners names out of a hat. Well, actually it was old empty Pringles can, but in some ways that’s better than a hat, because hats touch peoples heads and often have hair and people grease on them, [...]

PAYA Auction

Published by Chelsea Campbell under Uncategorized

Some very cool teen book bloggers started this charity site:  PAYA: Bringing (More) YA to PA.  They’re trying to collect young adult books and raise money to help the severely underfunded Pennsylvania libraries.  You can check out the book drive page here.  But besides giving books, you can also GET something.  Everybody likes to get [...]

Winter is coming

Published by Chelsea Campbell under Uncategorized

But it feels like it’s already here. I love winter! As a knitter, I love how all the gloves and hats and scarves I make are suddenly useful. I love how as soon as it starts to get chilly out, it feels like Christmas. Hot drinks taste better and are more [...]
